The International Mstislav Rostropovich Festival, first held in Moscow in 2010, was established in memory of this great musician, without whom contemporary art is unimaginable. The Festival was organized by the Moscow Government and the Mstislav Rostropovich Foundation for Cultural and Humanitarian Programs. The Artistic Director of the Festival is Olga Rostropovich, Honored Artist of the Russian Federation.
Recognized by the public and the media, the Festival quickly gained international renown, becoming one of the central events in the music world.
From March 30 to April 27, 2026, the XVI International Mstislav Rostropovich Festival will be held in Moscow. This year, the Festival is dedicated to Galina Vishnevskaya, in honor of the 100th anniversary of the birth of the great singer and muse of Mstislav Rostropovich. The Festival program traditionally brings together the best soloists and ensembles at Moscow's main concert venues. Festival concerts will be held in the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, the Column Hall of the House of Unions, and the Galina Vishnevskaya Opera Center.
